YES, YES, WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!! PRESIDENT Barack Obama. VICE PRESIDENT Joe Biden. FIRST LADY Michelle Obama. US SENATOR Mark Udall. A NEW ERA for the United States!!!!!!!!! =]

I can't believe it!!!! I still feel like I'm dreaming....I'm worried I'll wake up tomorrow and find that it's still November 4th and the election hasn't happened yet....But, guys, WE DID IT! We showed the world, the people, the government what we think is right. As Hal Bidlack said tonight, "It's not about left or right, it's about RIGHT or WRONG. And tonight, America made the RIGHT choice." A change is coming to America, though I can't stress enough that Barack can't deal with everything right away--he needs to deal with economics and national security before anything else. But you know what? Tonight, for the first time I can remember, I'm proud to say, "I'm a United States citizen. And I volunteered for Barack Obama. I helped him get elected." Tonight, I'm proud to fly an American flag. I believe in our country, and I believe we've sent a message to the world that America is still the great country it once was, with ideals of liberty and justice FOR ALL, ideals of doing what is fundamentally right, and of truly being a government run BY the people and FOR the people.

Today. WE MADE HISTORY. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA. The first African-American president. I mean, I still remember November 2006, when Obama won the US Senate seat, and thinking how amazing he was. I remember that first debate with all the democratic primary candidates. I remember....I remember coming all this way these past two years, and now.....I mean, is this real?!

I went to an election party at the Antlers Hilton here in Colorado Springs, and the energy was positively ELECTRIC the whole time. There was just so much hope, so much happiness....I almost hadn't dared this day would come. When MSNBC projected Obama as president....chills ran down my spine. And when COLORADO went Obama.....WOW. I helped with that. I volunteered, I knocked on doors, I encouraged everyone who could to go get out and vote. I got tears in my eyes when Michelle came out, and tears in my eyes when Obama told the story about the 106-year-old in Atlanta. YES WE DID. But, still, YES WE CAN. Yes, we CAN make the changes that need to happen. Yes, we CAN show the people that we really are going to make a better country. Yes, we CAN.

In other happy news, the Personhood Amendment on the Colorado Ballot, the one that would ban abortion, was pretty thoroughly defeated! SQUEE!!!!!

Say it with me: PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA. PRESIDENT. BARACK. OBAMA.

Thank you so much, everyone.....I have hope tonight...and I'm not sure I'll sleep!

Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a note with 16 random things, shortcomings, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. You have to tag the person who tagged you.

1. I've been in the Colorado State Spelling Bee....And I got 30th place out of 488 competitors =]
2. I've stayed up all  night reading a book several times
3. Even though I'm 15 years old, I still sleep with a stuffed animal. And I've basically stopped being embarrassed by it. Somehow, it makes me feel safer...I know, I know, throwing a stuffed lobster at a murderer won't do much, but it has that feeling!!!!
4. I hate NOT doing anything in school...those classes where you sit there and do NOTHING....GAH!!! Hate them so much!
5. I'm an amazingly awesome nerdfighter! DFTBA!!!!
6. I'm extremely sensitive...to the point where I read Fred's name and tears well up...Or I put on Atonement and begin crying at the beginning just because I know the ending is so sad!
7. I can't ride a bike and hate driving, so I pretty much get places by walking. It's slow, but rather enjoyable. Though I'd really like to learn how to ride that bike!
8. I'm a neat freak. Seriously. My bookshelves are alphabetical and in different labeled sections, I have a place for everything in my room. However, usually I only have time to clean on the weekends, so most of the time my room just bugs the heck out of me!!!!
9. I sincerely despise stupid questions...Such as "Are you okay?" when I'm crying or "Did you get a haircut?" when I cut off almost 12 inches of hair...NO DUH!!!!
10. I've been to ELEVEN different countries...and I'm not even 16 yet
11. Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom are my heroes! =]
12. Most people know this, but I'm a vegetarian!!!!
13. Pellegrino is pretty much my favorite drink ever
14. At Terminus, I gave a presentation on Connecting through Harry Potter (that almost no one came to, but that's okay!)
15. Believe it or not, I've never had a boyfriend, been kissed, or had a boy tell me that I'm beautiful
16. I've stood in four states at once: Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado

Mmm...I don't actually have very many friends on here....So I'm just going to tag everyone on my friends list and everyone who reads this because....

I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!!!

1. If you're on my friends list, I want to know a few things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine ... you're on my list, so I want to know you better. You don't even have to answer all the questions, because some of them are lame and some just hard to think up.

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship?
02) What was your dream growing up?
03) What talent do you wish you had?

07) What zodiac sign are you?
08) Any tattoos and/or piercings? Explain where.
09) Worst habit?
10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?
11) What is your favorite sport?
12) Do you have a pessimistic or optimistic attitude?
13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
14) Worst thing to ever happen to you?
15) Tell me one weird fact about you.
16) Do you have any pets?
17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?
18) What was your first impression of me?
19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?

32) Do you believe in love at first sight?
33) Favourite and least favourite food?
34) Do you believe in God?
35) In one word, how would you describe me?
36) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

In other news....

  • Happy birthday to Tom Felton!
  • Deathly Hallows paperback will be released this summer....not that I care, since I won't ever buy it.....

What?!?!?!?!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrr Seriously, I can't believe they've pushed back the release until JULY of next year!!!!! Why? No legitimate reason. I mean, the writer's strike ended so long ago and they were obviously ready to release it in November and done with filming. Plus, a holiday release is just as good as a summer release: Three other HP movies were released around Thanksgiving. So why wait? Because they hate us, that's why.

GAH! Anyone want to join me in burning the WB studio? Just kidding. Really. But they have definitely made so many people unhappy. I'm NOT happy at all.

Er....And for updates on Terminus, please just see my blogspot: http://lunastarlight.blogspot.com Because I don't really feel like posting all the entries on here, too. One journal is enough.

Hmm....what day is today? Random creepy voice answers: It's Wednesday, August 6th, 2008. Me: Oh, Okay.....

Wait, it's August 6th?!?!?! That means Terminus is tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!! Squee!!!!!!!!!!!! *hyperventilates and rushes around doing too many things*

Bahahahaha, so I didn't actually hyperventilate, but I have been doing too many things. Final edit of my paper, which I still need to print out, thinking of questions for my intersection, planning stuff with friends, PACKING, taking care of last-minute things at home (laptop setup and school registration, basically)

I'm so excited!!!!!!!! Nervous for my paper presentation (*chews more on fingernails, plays with hair*), but mostly just excited. And, Mary Rose, if you read this, I absolutely cannot WAIT to see you tomorrow and I am going to make absolutely sure that you have freakish amounts of fun and do a lot of squeeing over the next five days! I love ya! *hugs*

Okay...I should go now.........

First, wizard rock!!!! =] Okay, so yesterday I bought the new Moaning Myrtles' album: What About Myrtle and The Parslemouths' new album: Pretty in Pink (and Green)!!!!!!!!! Squee, that made me so excited. I then proceeded to listen to both albums in full (almost, I only listened to parts of some songs). They are both full of awesome. My favorite songs on What About Myrtle are probably, "What About Myrtle" and "All I Think About." And my favorite songs on Pretty in Pink (and Green) are probably "We Belong Together" and "This is Never Going to End." I'm now low on money on iTunes after buying those, and (last month) the old Moaning Myrtles' album, The Butterbeer Experience's old album, and Lauren's muggle music album. But after listening to this new awesome Wrock music, I wish even more that I was going to Wrock Chicago!!!! =[ *sigh* It would be so amazing to listen to all these bands live, but I can't change that now!

And, there's more exciting news in the world of Harry Potter: The Tales of Beedle the Bard is being released to the general public on December 4th, 2008!!!!!!!!!! SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =] =] Thank you so, so much, Jo! This means a lot to me, and I can't wait to read the stories for myself!

Erm...so, go listen to some Wizard Rock!!! Wrock rocks!!!!

bday.gif Harry and Jo!!!!!!!!!

First, to Harry: Happy 28th birthday!!! Over the past 8 years, you have been my constant, silent (literary) friend, always there when I needed to get away from my thoughts or needed someone who cared. =] You have accomplished so much, and I hope you're happy with your life now!!! You are simply amazing, Harry, and I hope your birthday is just as phenomenal as you deserve!!!

To Jo: Happy 43rd birthday!!! I can't thank you enough for writing these books. You gave me a constant friend, and opened me up to the HP fandom, which has given me so many friends from all over the world. I really connect with your books.....I'm a "different" type of person, and the books allow me to be accepted, despite my eccentricities. You are simply amazing and you are beautiful. Thank you so much for sticking with Harry even now, for continuing to excite us with news about Beedle the Bard, the Theme Park, and the Scottish Book...and thank you for putting up with us obsessive fans who want to know every detail right down to the middle name of Harry's great-grandfather! ;)

I always knew you could do it!

SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =] =] =] =] It's absolutely PERFECT. Granted, the memory isn't the "most important," but it's beautiful. I love the words taken straight from the book, too! Especially the line at the end..."Did you know, Professor...then?" "That I'd just met the most dangerous wizard of all time? No." =] *squees happily* I've now watched the trailer 4 times, and it makes me smile so much each time!!!

Goodness, I waited all day for this, and now I'm so happy!

Sooooooooo.......The Half-Blood Prince movie trailer is now officially coming out on Tuesday the 29th of July! =] It will debut online on AOL. Which is good, because I didn't want to have to go see a movie I wasn't really interested in seeing just to see the trailer. It seems weird that they waited until 4 months before the movie to release a trailer, when Twilight released one in April and it's coming out in December!!! But...the fact that I've waited so long for a trailer just multiplies my excitement to finally see it!

Now, some news that isn't really fandom related, but more personal Harry Potter happy news! My Ravenclaw house sweater from Whimsic Alley arrived!!!!!!!!!! I was freakishly excited when I opened up the package. And it's absolutely beautiful. It looks just like I imagine the house sweaters should. And, best of all, it's the book colors: blue and bronze, instead of blue and silver like my tie. I really want to buy one of Whimsic Alley's book color ties as well, but that can wait a little while since I do at least have a Ravenclaw tie for Terminus.

Okay...so I need to print out my paper for Terminus, and then I think I'll do one final revision to make sure everything's good. =]

Dobby's sock!!!!!! Oh my geez!!!!!! THERE ARE ONLY 14 DAYS UNTIL TERMINUS!!!!!! I find this crazy. I mean, I found the conference last...(excuse me while I go search my e-mail) September. I registered for it in January. So, I've been waiting for this conference to come for about 11 months...REALLY waiting (since I was registered) for 7 months. And, now, all of the sudden, in 14 days I'll be in the airport about to get on my plane to Chicago!!! I'll be eating amazing vegetarian food (=]) and hanging out with awesome Harry Potter friends that I've been corresponding with for a year online. I'll be going to presentations, intersections, volunteering, dancing, laughing, singing...spending a WHOLE afternoon with Mary Rose =] I'm really excited for Terminus to get here...

However, before this happens, I need to PACK. Yes, definitely. Probably start laying out stuff on Monday, actually. That way I'll know if I need anything and what I need to go buy. Plus, I'm kind of a dork that way and want to make sure I'm not doing anything last minute. I also need to plan out discussion questions, etc, for my Luna/Neville Intersection. Most importantly, I need to type out and print the final copy of my presentation paper, ask whether I have a projector, and, if I do, make a quick Power Point.

Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! =] I'm definitely excited to spend time with real HP fans and listen to a live PotterCast! Cheers!

I was freaking out, anxiously awaiting the release of Deathly Hallows!!! Actually, if I'm remembering correctly, I was watching Gilmore Girls...(lol) It feels so weird that it's been a year already. In this year, I've had the best times. I joined LL and the Reading Groups and analyzed the heck out of Deathly Hallows...and had so much fun that I proceeded to do the same for Half Blood Prince and Philosopher's Stone. I've made some pretty dang amazing friends through LL and gotten addicted to watching Harry Potter fans make vlogs on YouTube. I've listened to PotterCast...written a poem about the journey fans went through (I posted it a while back)...attempted (and failed) to draw fanart. Most everything that wasn't resolved in the book/Epilogue has been revealed by Jo, and there's been a lot of drama in the fandom: Dumbledore being gay and the whole Stupid Jo VS. Steve Vander Ark fiasco. A documentary about Jo came out, and she released a pretty dang awesome prequel featuring James and Sirius =]

It's funny, because when I go back and read my old posts leading up to Deathly Hallows, I was so worried that...nothing would be the same. It's not, really, because there's no more books to look forward to. (The Scottish Book????) But, there's still a lot of stuff to discuss and figure out and look forward to. Jo has revealed an awful lot of stuff about the characters since last July, stuff that sparks more major discussions and we can try to figure out some other things that still haven't been revealed (like what house Grubbly-Plank was in). Of course, there's the movies and conferences and Theme park to look forward to!!!! The fandom is still just as close and just as fun and...I love it just as much.

I mean, I definitely experienced a lot of Post Potter Depression, and I still have my Harry Potter memorial up on my wall. But I'm not any less obsessed with Harry Potter, and I'm not any less excited when there's new Harry Potter news...even if now, it's mostly about the movies. Basically, as long as there are people who love Harry Potter and worship the very ground Jo walks on, the fandom will live on. And, personally, I hope that will be forever =]

So.....ONE YEAR!!!!!!!!! Wow. Such an awesome year. And I can't wait until Terminus, either!

Anyone who's reading this and is a Harry Potter fan...tell me about your year since Deathly Hallows came out!! What did you think before the book came out and after the book came out? Are you still obsessed? Has anything changed??? And...anything else you'd like to say! Leave me a comment...or something like that!

Cheers!

So, there's three weeks until Terminus!!! And...I'm kind of freaking out here. Partially because I still haven't finalized my schedule (the only times I know for sure are the ball, Saturday morning, PotterCast, and Sunday afternoon). I'm hoping to set aside an afternoon to go see Chicago with Chickadee...Besides the schedule, I haven't done my final draft of my paper, either! EEK!!!! For a while there, I was pretty calm and happy with how the paper was, but I'm definitely freaking out about it a little now. I'm paranoid that no one will come or that I'll freak out when a bunch of people show up.

Okay, but I'm really excited, too. I can't wait to see all my friends and go crazy over Harry Potter for an entire 4 days. =] Everything just sounds so fun; it's hard to decide what to do! And...I really want to meet/befriend the fiveawesomegirls while I'm there, but I don't know how. I'm really shy, so I probably won't even talk to them, but I would love to be their friend...seriously, you have no idea. They rock my world and make my days a bit brighter. If anything, I'd just like to thank them in person.

*sigh* Well, Cheers!

That's right, I've been on the Lounge for officially one year now (I actually changed the time I'm posting this, but...Shh!!). And oh my goodness, I'm still grateful each and every day that I stumbled upon the Lounge one sunny July 16th last summer. I've had the best times of my life there!!

On the Lounge I met some of my first true friends. I speculated about what would happen in Deathly Hallows and hyperventilated with people as July 21, 2007 drew closer and closer. Then, I ranted and cried and laughed and discussed the final Harry Potter book and our feelings on it. I joined the reading group and really, honestly opened up to people. Mary Rose, Allie, Justi, and so many more people reached out to me and became my friends through the reading group. Always, they are my shoulders to cry on (virtually, but anything helps), my ears that listen to whatever I say without criticizing, and my friends that I can talk to about anything and laugh with. I've had the opportunity to write a chapter summary for Deathly Hallows, control/start a thread on the Weasleys for Half-Blood Prince, and I'm about to enter my FOURTH reading group on the Lounge. I've spent lonely Friday nights hanging out on Leaky, gotten angry when there weren't any new posts in the off-topic RG thread, anxiously awaited the chapter threads coming up on Sunday nights so that I could post my thoughts. I've revealed random secrets about myself, started a holiday card pen pal thing, and read books just because people on the Lounge recommended them. I've gained my own special title ("Leaky's Resident Luna Biographer") and made 2,512 posts over the course of a year.

Let me tell you, it was one amazing year. I don't even remember anymore how I found the Lounge, just that I'd been checking Leaky (as I've done for years) and I assume I stumbled upon the forum somehow. But, honestly, my experience this past year on the Lounge has changed my life in so many ways. I have friends now. I'm not so afraid to put my ideas out there now. I'm never truly lonely anymore because I always have a friend on Leaky, even if they live across the world. I have inside jokes now, and most of all, I have people who understand my crazy obsession.

So, to all my people on the Lounge: I want to thank you so much. There aren't enough words to express how deeply and truly I love y'all for being so friendly to me. Y'all have given me something I'd missed before July 16, 2007: true friendship. So, thank you. And I hope to see a lot of you at Terminus (*hugs Mary Rose*). I love y'all! Cheers!

Has kind of died down lately, hasn't it? Well, I'm incredibly sorry. It's just that I made this livejournal for the sole purpose of posting about exciting Harry Potter stuff. But I always seem to forget about it when something exciting in the fandom does happen, and then it seems like the timeliness factor has just kind of...died.

So, Harry Potter news? There's another HBP trailer rumor. The poor actor playing Marcus Belby was killed last night =( There was a live PotterCast in Florida yesterday that I so wish I could have been at. And.....The Terminus programming schedule came out on the 10th. I'm presenting on Sunday, August 11th, at 2:00 pm in the Ontario Room on the 8th floor of the Hilton Chicago. So y'all had better be there!

I'd make a promise to update here more, but I know I wouldn't keep it. *sigh* I will tell y'all that I'll try, and if anyone does read this, the occasional, "Hey, how come you're not updating," would help enormously. In the meantime, for updates about my life, see: http://lunastarlight.blogspot.com I update that blog quite often, so that should keep any of the few people who read this satisfied!

Sending happy thoughts your way,

When you almost faint when you go back and look at how long it's been since you did one of these things...=D
  • you refer to your Jack Russell Terrier as a Crup
  • When you listen to PotterCast while walking to and from school and keep laughing constantly (and people stare)
  • When your friends learned quickly that if you randomly burst out laughing when you have your iPod is in your ears, it's because John, Sue, or Melissa, just made some hilarious comment
  • When you know what "The Pillar of StorgĂ©" means.
  • When you get a free pen at school and it's black and yellow, you call it your Hufflepuff pen even though the real reason it's those colors is because your school colors are black and yellow.
  • When taking a test in Geometry, you read "GOF" and think of "Goblet of Fire" before realizing that it's actually an angle named GOF.
  • When your friend says that Hannah's a loser because she was in Hufflepuff and you start hitting him with your Ravenclaw scarf shouting, "Hufflepuffs are COOL!!!" at the top of your lungs while everyone in the hall stares at you
  • When you find a way to connect your tragic hero project to Harry Potter: Jo based the Chamaera story off of a greek hero, so you do him
  • When your journalism teacher is talking about not saying anything inappropriate (swear words) and you turn to your friend and say "Dobby's sock" and the two of you spend time talking about wizard swears, laughing.
  • When you are watching Charmed and the fact that baby Chris is dressed as a wizard automatically makes you think "Baby Harry!" even though it looks nothing like Harry
  • When you frame the Scholastic Deathly Hallows poster and put it above your bookshelf, along with your wand. They are both right above my harry potter shelf
  • When a character in the book you are reading is named "merope" and you circle it, draw a smiley face, and write Harry Potter next to the name
  • When the fact that the guy who translated the book you're reading is named "Dudley Fitts" makes you laugh
  • When you see a snowy owl at the zoo and shout "Hedwig lives!" even though you know people will stare.
  • When every time you see a battery you think of Arthur Weasley.
  • When you take 'how obsessed with HP are you?' quizzes online, and not only get 100% on them, you notice all the mistakes in them and point them out to your siblings.
  • When you see a shelf of garden gnomes in the store and are annoyed that they're cute when they should look like potatoes with legs. When a salesman asks if you like them and you almost start to cackle madly thinking about his reaction if you told him what you were really thinking.
  • When you are doing vocab and one word is "Terminus" and you know it right away
  • During the same vocab, a word is "remorse" and you immediately think of Deathly Hallows and know it right away, too
  • When you realize you are on three Harry Potter forums: here, the Terminus one, and a roleplay site. I'm so dang obsessed!
  • When you're in calculus, you always write cos as CoS, just to make it look more HPish, and whenever you see cosine in calculus, it gives you a two second thrill, before you have to go back to the boredom and confusion that is calculus.
  • when you are learning about greek mythology and cannot stop thinking about all of the connections between it and harry potter
  • When your idea of relaxing is posting on here
  • When you realize that you are doing 3 HP things right now: posting on here, talking in a Terminus chat, and posting on the Terminus forum.
  • When you name your new iPod Luna
And...I'm going to stop there. There are a billion more. I let it go too long and it'd take me two full days to post them, all, so enjoy those for now!
